WingOS is a small hobbyist microkernel based operating system written from scratch. The project is about creating an operating system that is easy to program for, with a simple and clean API.What is a microkernel based operating system ?
A microkernel based operating system is generally more secure and stable than a monolithic kernel. They are harder to develop but are more minimalist, elegant and resilient.Microkernel based operating system aims to reduce the kernel to the minimum (philosophically speaking) and move as much as possible of the operating system into user space.
Each part is divided into small user services, they are isolated and easily restartable. If an exploit reach a service, it is constrained to the service instead of spreading to the whole system.
